Liverpool made it four wins on the bounce across all competitions with a 2-0 victory against Brighton at Anfield.
An own goal from Pascal Gross and Alexander Isak’s sixth Premier League goal of the season gave the Reds a commanding 2-0 lead during the first half.
Defensively, it was another solid performance from the hosts, led by captain fantastic Virgil van Dijk.
Speaking after the game, the Dutchman singled out his centre-half partner Jeremy Jacquet for special praise after yet another monstrous display from the new signing.
Virgil van Dijk raves about Liverpool defender Jeremy Jacquet
Jacquet has started every Premier League game so far and was once again in the thick of the action at the back.
He dominated proceedings and also showed his ball-playing ability, which has become a feature of his gameplay.
And Van Dijk believes there is more to come from the Frenchman, who is quickly becoming one of the best defenders in world football.
“He’s a fantastic player and he has got so much more to come,” said Van Dijk after the game.
“It’s very exciting for Liverpool and it’s down to him to keep working hard, keep learning and keep level-headed.”
“Both of us have to get to know what the other does in certain situations. You get to know each other in so many moments. So far we have been doing pretty well.”
It’s still early days, but Liverpool appear to have struck gold with Jacquet, who looks almost unbeatable alongside Van Dijk at the back.
