Fenerbahçe are close to signing Liverpool striker Samed Yeşil according to Turkish sports news outlet Fanatik.
The report claims that the club has held talks with the 20-year-old, and that he will arrive in Turkey this week.
The Reds may be tempted to allow the youngster to leave on loan to gain first team experience at a club that will be vying for domestic honours and competing in Europe.
Yeşil arrived at Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen for £1million in 2013, and was regarded as one of the most promising young strikers in the continent. But a string of injuries set the former German Under-19 international back, and he has never made a league appearance for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Yeşil’s only first team outings have been in the League Cup, against West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City respectively.
He recently returned from a double cruciate ligament injury, and came back with a bang by scoring twice in his first start for six months, against Tottenham Hotspur in the Under-21 Premier League.
Yeşil, born in Germany but with a Turkish family, is eligible for both countries at senior level but is yet to decide whom he would represent.
