Liverpool’s big money signing Roberto Firmino is likely to miss Liverpool’s pre-season tour, due to his participation in this summer’s Copa America with Brazil reports Simon Rice of the Independent.
Philippe Coutinho is also set to miss out.
Should Brazil manage to reach the final, it’s scheduled for July 4th – 10 days before the tour is scheduled to begin. Firmino is then expected to take an annual holiday period before linking up with his new team-mates. Liverpool’s pre-season tour starts as the club head to Bangok to face Thai All Stars on July 14th.
Following their time in Bangok, Brendan Rodgers’ side will then travel to Australia where they shall face Brisbane Roar on July 17th and then Adelaide on July 20th.
The report from the Independent claim that if Brazil are eliminated from the tournament this weekend, both of the Brazilians could feature some part during the second half of the tour.
Brazil face Paraguay tomorrow in the tournament’s quarter final.
Liverpool will finish off their pre-season games on the 1st August with a match away to HJK Helsinki in Finland. The Liverpool fans who were eager to see their new man in action may just have to wait that little bit longer.
