Philippe Coutinho is keen on a controversial summer move to Manchester United, according to the Daily Star.
The Brazilian is eyeing up an exit from Barcelona, in what would be a transfer that would not go down well in Liverpool.
Coutinho has suffered a disappointing time of things at Barca, having made his dream move there from Anfield in January 2018.
Having arrived as a superstar, the 26-year-old has failed to hit the heights expected of him, scoring only four La Liga goals this season.
The Catalan giants are reportedly willing to sell the ex-Liverpool favourite, and United have emerged as possible contenders.
The report suggests that the attacking midfielder “has confided in a number of United’s Spanish players that he would love a move to Old Trafford.”
Coutinho lost enough admirers when he traded Liverpool for Barcelona, but this would lose him any lingering popularity on Merseyside.
Michael Owen is a case in point, with his stock plummeting as soon as he opted to join United in 2009, and Coutinho would be the same.
