Gerrard Chooses LA Galaxy

Gerrard Chooses LA Galaxy

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has finalised a deal with LA Galaxy, both manager, Bruce Arena, and President, Chris Klein, have confirmed. The 34-year-old has signed a deal worth ~£6m per annum according to the BBC, making him one of the highest earners in Major League Soccer.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Gerrard said: “I think it’s a match made in heaven really. I chose LA Galaxy because of the success they’ve had recently. I want to finish my career very strong. I want to add some medals and trophies to my collection”.

Bruce Arena commented on the move: “He’s a player of quality. I’m not concerned about how he’s going to fit in with our team. We have a club now with a proven history of success. All those things go hand-in-hand in making LA Galaxy a very attractive team for players such as Steven Gerrard”.

Gerrard announced last week that he would be leaving Liverpool when his contract expires in June and that he will be playing his football elsewhere in America. The news has broken the hearts of every Liverpool supporter. Lots even think it’s too early to let him go. Jamie Carragher is among those who believe Liverpool should have done more to keep their talismanic captain.

Despite all of this, Gerrard is currently Liverpool’s top goal scorer this season, after finding the net twice on Monday night against a brave AFC Wimbledon side.

I personally believe he still has a lot to give in a Liverpool shirt. But no matter what we all think or believe, Steven Gerrard will be off to Los Angeles in June, putting an end to a memorable career with his boyhood club.

What are your thoughts on Gerrard leaving? Should he have signed a new deal at Liverpool? Let us know.
