Gini Wijnaldum is set to return to training for Liverpool on Thursday, the club have announced.
The Dutch midfielder has been struggling with illness but was still able to score and play during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth.
However, the midfielder is set to return to training on Thursday ahead of Liverpool’s huge clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
Wijnaldum has been unable to participate in training with his teammates at the warm weather training camp in Marbella, however, Jurgen Klopp announced that the midfielder should return on Thursday.
Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com:
Gini didn’t train yet, that’s of course not cool after a very intense game for him.
So he had a little dip, but will start today so that’s good.
Liverpool have a tough set of fixtures coming up, starting with the clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
The Reds will then face Bayern Munich next week in the UEFA Champions League, with Klopp’s side facing a tough test in Germany.
Having Wijnaldum fit will be a huge boost for the Reds, with the Dutchman looking to add to the goal he scored against Bournemouth.
