Henderson’s brilliant captaincy highlighted in Messi incident

A brilliant clip from Liverpool’s stunning 4-0 with over Barcelona has proved why Jordan Henderson is the right man to captain the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp’s side produced a legendary performance on Tuesday, reaching the Champions League final after stunning the Catalan giants.

Anfield was a cauldron of noise and Barca couldn’t deal with the intensity both on and off the pitch.

Henderson was one of the star performers on the night, putting in one of his best displays in a Liverpool shirt.

While many have been quick to criticise the 28-year-old in his role as captain, mainly because he isn’t Steven Gerrard, he has grown into the job superbly.

His leadership was on show again on Tuesday and one clip doing the rounds has highlighted it to perfection.

Andy Robertson and Lionel Messi had clashed moments earlier, and when the Argentine legend went over to confront the Reds’ left-back, Henderson was on-hand to stick up for his teammate.

Seen detecting the issue, the skipper strides over and tells Messi where to go, also ensuring Robertson doesn’t get into trouble by reacting.

While Henderson will forever be divisive in terms of his football ability, it is hard to deny that he is doing an excellent job as Liverpool captain.
