Jurgen Klopp has paid a glowing tribute to Diego Maradona following the football legend’s death earlier this week.
Maradona passed away at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday, leading to numerous tributes in his honour.
Klopp is one of those to have given his thoughts on the legendary Argentine, having been asked about him during his pre-Brighton press conference this morning.
Speaking to the press, the Liverpool manager spoke beautifully about Maradona, finishing with a wise, heartfelt message for others to take on board:
The best through my lifetime. Maybe not now because I saw Cristiano [Ronaldo] and (Lionel) Messi now.
In my career, he was the standout player. His life shows how nice it can be when you’re world-class and how difficult it can be. A very impressive figure.
If we had shown love for him without wanting a selfie and shown him the respect he deserved while he was alive, we could have helped him.

Klopp’s tribute is typical of him, with the Reds boss a classy figure who clearly adored Maradona as a player.
Most importantly, however, the German is also making a point of telling people to look after one another and treat their fellow brethren well while they are still alive.
Maradona endured some traumatic health problems in recent years, and had people shown him a little more love before his death, his personal issues may not have been quite as severe.
