Steven Gerrard celebrates for Liverpool during the 2006 FA Cup final

On this day (13th April) in 2006, Liverpool managed an emphatic 3-1 win on penalties over West Ham to win their seventh FA Cup.

The game is always remembered as the Gerrard Final after the midfield generals display.

Liverpool found themselves 2-0 down when Djibril Cisse managed to get one back for the Reds.

Soon, a thunderous volley from Steven Gerrard managed to level out the scoring with all to play for.

However, finding themselves 3-2 with just seconds to spare saw another special moment from the captain.

Despite being laden on the floor with crump just minutes earlier, a 90th minute volley secured extra time for the Reds.

Soon came the penalty shoot out, and as the stars aligned so did Liverpool’s spot kicks.

The Reds eventually ran out 3-1 victors on penalties, lifting their seventh FA Cup in the clubs history.

Gerrard was known for his thunderous goals and big game moments, and this day was no different.
