Liverpool have confirmed that young duo Paul Glatzel and Joe Hardy are set for a spell on the sidelines, having picked up injuries last weekend.
The academy duo are expected to be out of action for ‘several weeks’, acting as a blow to manager Barry Lewtas.
The two youngsters were both forced off in Liverpool U23s 0-0 draw at home to Southampton U23s on Saturday afternoon, raising immediate fears over their involvement in the coming weeks.
It has been confirmed that Glatzel and Hardy have both suffered ankle ligament damage, meaning they won’t be back in action until close to Christmas.

This is a real blow for the Reds’ U23s, with Glatzel and Hardy both such a potent couple of attacking players.
You have to feel particularly sorry for Glatzel, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury back in July 2019, curtailing his progress hugely.
The hope is that Lewtas’ side can continue to thrive without two key men, with the aforementioned draw with Saints taking them top of Premier League 2, ahead of Derby County U23s on goal difference.
The sooner they are back the better, with Glatzel and Hardy progressing through younger age groups and becoming important members of the U23 setup.
