A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting to the news that Joe Gomez has suffered a serious injury on England duty.
The 23-year-old is believed to have been badly hurt in training on Wednesday, according to the Daily Mail.
Gareth Southgate is yet to confirm the severity of the injury, but it is a hugely worrying piece of news for Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool are already suffering a crisis at centre-back, with Virgil van Dijk expected to be out for the entire season with cruciate ligament damage.
Joel Matip is an injury-prone figure and Fabinho is still absent, so until this setback, Gomez was the one established central defender Klopp could call upon.
The Reds must feel cursed at the moment, as they try and defend their Premier League crown with a host of problems to contend with.
The hope is that Gomez’s injury isn’t as serious as is being reported, but the early signs are not encouraging, to say the least.
These Liverpool fans have been providing their thoughts on the matter on Twitter, bemoaning the potential absence of Gomez, as well as the Reds’ continued back luck in the injury department.

Only 6 weeks or so until the window opens 🤞🏼

Most infuriating part is that this Gomez injury comes in training for an international friendly he probably wasn’t going to feature in. Like Van Dijk’s injury – totally preventable, absolutely needless.

This is becoming a joke now. One of the unluckiest injury spells I’ve seen anyone have.

Liverpool have potentially a month and a half — naively assuming there’ll be no more injuries — with Fabinho, Joel Matip, Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips as their centre half options, because, surely, they’ll sign a new defender in January. Surely.

Joe Gomez with potentially a serious injury whilst training for a pointless international friendly, in the middle of a pandemic….
Something has to change.
