Some Liverpool fans think Andrew Robertson could be an option at centre-back as Jurgen Klopp looks to tackle his current injury crisis.
The Reds find themselves in a dire situation at the back which threatens to seriously affect their season. Virgil van Dijk could miss the rest of the campaign with a cruciate ligament injury, but if that isn’t bad enough, Joe Gomez may be about to suffer the same fate, having been badly injured on England duty on Wednesday.
Fabinho has also been absent and Joel Matip is notoriously injury-prone, highlighting the issues in the centre of Liverpool’s defence.
There are still 11 matches to be played between now and the January transfer window opening, so Klopp is going to have to get by for the time being.
One solution that some Liverpool supporters think could be worth trying is playing Robertson at centre-back, in the way David Alaba has switched from being a left-back at Bayern Munich.
That could then allow summer signing Kostas Tsimikas to slot in at left-back as he looks to kick on at his new club.
There are risks behind the idea, without question – Robertson is not especially tall and has not played at centre-back before – but it may be an idea for Klopp to consider.
These Reds fans on Twitter have been talking up the possibility of the Scotland international filling in at centre-back:
Obviously it's far, far from ideal, and Fabinho/Matip is the obvious pairing now (if available), but I wouldn't be completely averse to seeing Robertson shift inside to left centre-back and Tsimikas come in at left-back as an emergency solution.

Liverpool are still better than most teams in the league, a centre back pairing of robertson and matip could work, tsimikas at Lb, milner/ neco at rb.
