Many Liverpool fans spent most of the summer pining over a move for then-Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, so it was little surprise to see their joy when their midfield maestro made his return to full training on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old helped Bayern to a European treble last season and the Reds eventually landed their man in September for £25m, sending many supporters into overdrive.
However, after just two glimpses of the Spaniard, his start to life with the Premier League champions was brought to an abrupt halt following a horror tackle from Richarlison during the Merseyside derby in October.
Ever since that moment, it seems that numerous fans have been eagerly anticipating his return as Liverpool look to retain their league title. Last week, Jurgen Klopp gave his most positive update thus far as he hinted that Thiago could be in contention to return against West Brom on Sunday with two full training sessions under his belt.
On Wednesday afternoon, the club’s Twitter channel delivered an early Christmas present, with the 29-year-old also tweeting images of him back on the training pitch, and these Liverpool fans were enraptured:
