A number of Liverpool supporters have been showing their appreciation for James Milner after he made his 550th career appearance on Sunday.
The Reds drew 1-1 away to his former club Manchester City in an intriguing Premier League contest.
Liverpool came flying out of the traps, outplaying their opponents and taking the lead through Mohamed Salah’s penalty after Sadio Mane was brought down by Kyle Walker.
Jurgen Klopp’s men failed to build on their lead, however, and Gabriel Jesus soon equalised with a well-taken effort. Liverpool dodged a bullet when Kevin De Bruyne then missed a spot-kick before half-time, and the score remained the same after a dour second half.
Milner was introduced as a second half substitute, replacing the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
Up against the dangerous Raheem Sterling, the 34-year-old did admirably, keeping the City man quiet and going about his defensive duties in dogged fashion.
On what was a landmark occasion for Milner, he again showed what a priceless squad player he is despite his advancing years, displaying his vast experience and versatility.
These Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to laud the veteran “beast”, congratulating him for his latest milestone in what has been a fantastic career at the top.
