Liverpool fans hail Robertson after Scotland qualify for Euro 2020

A number of Liverpool fans have been showing their love for Andy Roberson, following Scotland’s qualification for Euro 2020.

The Liverpool left-back captained his country in a crucial playoff away to Serbia on Thursday night, in a battle to see who would reach next summer’s tournament.

For a long time, it looked as though Ryan Christie’s goal had sent Scotland through, only for Luka Jovic to equalise in the dying minutes, taking the game into extra-time.

A penalty shootout was required to separate the two sides and it was Steve Clarke’s team who prevailed in dramatic fashion, with David Marshall saving Aleksandar Mitrovic’s spot-kick.

It means Scotland have qualified for a major tournament for the first time since the 1998 World Cup in France, when Robertson was just four years of age.

The left-back will now skipper his country in a huge international tournament, as his incredible career goes from strength to strength.

From being relegated with Hull City in 2017, the 26-year-old has since earned a move to Liverpool, won the Champions League and the Premier League, and reached a major tournament with Scotland as captain.

These Reds supporters took to Twitter to speak of their happiness for Robertson after the triumph over Serbia.
