A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting to the news that Joel Matip’s season is over.
The Cameroonian suffered ankle ligament damage in the 3-1 win away to Tottenham last Thursday, leaving the pitch at half-time and not returning for the second half.
It is a devastating blow for both Matip and Liverpool, with the Reds in the unprecedented situation of having the 29-year-old, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez all out for the season.
The Premier League champions signed Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak on deadline day and it now makes even more sense, given what the club knew about Matip.
An excellent centre-back when fit, there must now be doubts about Matip’s long-term Liverpool future, considering what an injury-prone player he is.
These Reds supporters took to Twitter to provide their thoughts on the situation, with many of the opinion that the former Schalke man may have played his last match for the club.
Spare a thought for the @NoContextJMatip account.
And Joel Matip, obviously. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Think most already suspected that his injury was worse than what was reported. Neither surprised or disappointed. But it's time to move on from Matip. Make Kabak permanent in the Summer.

I wish him the best but hopefully he's sold at the end of the season. He's made of paper.
