Liverpool fans call for Xherdan Shaqiri to start against Man City

Some Liverpool supporters are keen to see Xherdan Shaqiri start away to Manchester City this weekend.

The Reds face an enormous Premier League encounter on Sunday, making the trip down the M62 to the Etihad Stadium. Jurgen Klopp’s side went into the weekend’s fixtures top of the table after seven games, having won five and drawn one of those fixtures.

This is likely to be Liverpool’s biggest test of the campaign so far, though, with City finding form in recent weeks. In fact, it may be one of their toughest assignments ofhte season.

Klopp has a few selection headaches ahead of the game, in particular whether or not to start Diogo Jota or Roberto Firmino in attack, following the former’s hat-trick away to Atalanta in midweek.

One player who hasn’t had too much of a mention is Shaqiri, who has come in from the cold and been a valuable squad player again this season.

The Swiss winger’s superb assist for Jota’s winner at home to West Ham last Saturday outlined his technical brilliance, and if he can stay injury-free this season, he could play an important role for the Reds over the next few months.

These Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to call for the 29-year-old, who one fanatic described as a “beautiful man”, to start against City.
