Liverpool could be set for a much-needed financial windfall this summer depending on the future of a former player.
The Reds sold English forward Danny Ings to Southampton in 2019 after a successful period on loan.
During his time at the Saints, Ings has managed an impressive 46 goals and 10 assists from 100 appearances.
This has now led to much speculation over his future at the South Coast club, with him holding off on a new contract.
With a number of clubs sniffing around Ings this summer, the Reds could be set for another financial boost if he is sold.
When the 28-year-old was sold to the Saints, Liverpool and Michael Edwards included a 20% sell-on clause.
A smart bit of business that we have seen the club and Edwards conduct on more than one occasion…
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, via Anfield Watch, the Reds could make a pretty penny from Ings’s sale.
There is no telling just how much Ings may go for this summer given he only has one year left on his contract.
However, given his form over the last few seasons and his current market value of just under £20million, something is better than nothing.
Edwards has been a fantastic component for the club in the transfer market for both ingoings and outgoings.
One thing for sure is that the club are smart in the market and know what they are doing.
Hopefully, the club will see a nice little bumper fee from the sale of Ings to help towards signings this summer.
With the Reds operating on limited finances this summer, any money is helpful towards the process.
