Diogo Jota could return from injury for Liverpool in January, according to The Athletic‘s James Pearce.
The Portuguese made a flying start to life at Anfield, scoring nine goals in his first 17 appearances.
A knee injury picked up in the Champions League clash away to Midtjylland earlier this month saw him ruled out for around six weeks, though, acting as a huge blow.
Now, Pearce claims that the 24-year-old is making “good progress” in his recovery, with a return to the fold next month looking likely.
As This Is Anfield point out, that could mean the forward is back for a potential FA Cup fourth round tie, or more likely the trip to Tottenham or West Ham, on January 27th and January 30th respectively.

Jota has been a big miss since he got injured, especially as Liverpool’s front-three haven’t clicked regularly as a unit.
In Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at Newcastle United, the Reds were crying out for his quality from the substitutes’ bench, when legs were tiring and a new test for the Magpies’ defence was needed.
Once Jota returns to the fold, it will make rotation far easier for Jurgen Klopp again, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all arguably looking a little jaded on Wednesday.
The ex-Wolves star’s pace, directness and end product will be a major asset in Liverpool’s Premier League title quest – he has already contributed so much this season.
