Liverpool “not interested” in Coutinho return

Liverpool are “not interested” in re-signing Philippe Coutinho this summer, according to journalist Guillem Balague.

The Brazilian traded Anfield for Barcelona in January 2018, in a big-money transfer.

Things haven’t panned out the way Coutinho would have hoped, however, with his performances often criticised by the Barca supporters and the Spanish media.

There have been rumours suggesting the 26-year-old could even be sold this summer, should he not go up a gear between now and the end of the season.

Liverpool have been linked with bringing him back to the club where he enjoyed five excellent years, but the reports have been denied.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Balague claims Jurgen Klopp has no interest in regaining the services of his former No.10, although he has suggested that other clubs may be interested:

Liverpool are not interested in bringing him back.

Barcelona don’t want to sell! There’s no intention to sell Coutinho. He has to improve, certainly, we haven’t seen his best version.

But Barcelona don’t have the intention of selling him. That’s what they’re saying.

I’m convinced that behind the stories is a real push to make him attractive to the Premier League in case Barcelona want to sell him.

There’s been meetings with representatives in Barcelona and the conclusion is they’re not moving and Coutinho is very important to the side.

Do they say that because that’s what they must say at the moment?

Coutinho has scored 19 goals in 63 appearances for the Catalan giants, going to show that his impact hasn’t been quite as lacking as some have suggested.

A return to the Premier League should not be ruled out, but a move back to Liverpool never felt likely.
