Liverpool physio reveals Mo Salah’s fasting plans ahead of the Champions League final

Liverpool physiotherapist Ruben Pons has confirmed that Mohamed Salah will not be fasting in the build-up to the Champions League final in Kiev, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Top scorer and star man Salah is a devout Muslim and has been following the Ramadan tradition of not eating or drinking during daylight hours since May 16th.

In an Egyptian Newspaper, Salah claimed he would not be breaking the fast, however, physio Pons has confirmed, in an interview with Spanish radio, that the winger will be eating:

We were in Marbella and the nutritionist established a work plan, tomorrow and the day of the match he won’t fast, so it’s not going to affect him.

It is not forbidden to break fast if you are travelling during the day, which Salah certainly will be doing.

Jurgen Klopp needs the Egyptian, who has scored 44 goals for the Reds this season, in peak physical condition for the big clash against Real Madrid in Kiev.

Other Muslim players Sadio Mane and Emre Can are yet to confirm their plans for fasting over the next two days but one would imagine that they’ll follow the same plan as Salah.
