Liverpool’s Raphinha interest could be boosted by reports from Italy

Liverpool have reportedly been scouting Leeds United winger Raphinha in the summer, and their hopes of landing him could be boosted as the Yorkshire side are already seeking out a replacement, according to Calciomercato [via Juve Live].

The Brazilian only joined Leeds from Rennes in October for £17m but has quickly earned plenty of plaudits with his flamboyant style and high-intensity pressing.

According to Calciomercato [via Juve Live], Marcelo Bielsa’s side have earmarked Juventus’ Douglas Costa as the man to replace Raphinha, who is said to be ‘departing’ for Liverpool.

A 24-year-old who predominantly operates from the right wing, he rose to prominence during a spell in Portugal with Vitória de Guimarães when he scored 15 league goals in the 2017/18 season.

Having recently been likened to Argentina and PSG star Angel Di Maria by Leeds teammate Patrick Bamford; with four goals and four assists to his name in his first season in England, Raphinha is swiftly making a name for himself in the Premier League.

The upcoming summer could be one of major intrigue at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp looks to potentially earn back the status of Premier League champions, and signing Raphinha would be a major statement from the Reds, who undoubtedly need to strengthen their options in the final third.

With fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino suffering regular dips in performance and the likes of Divock Origi simply not making the grade, a high-quality alternative is required.

Judging by Raphinha’s recent Firmino-esque skill and having already scored against the Reds’ Merseyside rivals Everton the Leeds man could be the ideal solution for the reigning English champions.
