Liverpool target goes on strike to force transfer after second bid rejected

Liverpool have officially announced the signing of Bradley Barcola, but they may add another player or two to their squad before the transfer deadline.

Whatever business they do in the next day and a half or so will depend on Cody Gakpo’s future after he agreed personal terms to join Manchester City.

The Reds will not sanction Gakpo’s sale without a replacement and have been linked with Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr.

And now, it has been confirmed that Crystal Palace have knocked back another offer from the Reds for the Senegalese international.

Liverpool fail with second Ismaila Sarr bid

Fabrice Hawkins reports that Sarr is desperate to join Liverpool and is not in training once again as he attempts to force through a transfer.

He wrote on X: “Crystal Palace have rejected a second offer from Liverpool for Ismaïla Sarr.

“The player wants to leave and join Liverpool at all costs. Sarr will not train today as he pushes for a move and no longer wants to wear the Crystal Palace shirt.

“If Liverpool fail to find an alternative, Cody Gakpo is expected to stay.”

Liverpool are running out of time to sign a replacement for Gakpo, so they are better off cancelling this whole operation for the time being.

The Dutch international is still a valuable player, so the last thing the Reds would like is to sanction his sale and settle for a substandard alternative, which would only end up weakening the squad.
