Liverpool team news: Crystal Palace (A)

In his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp announced that Emre Can will not feature during this weekend’s fixture away to Crystal Palace.

Emre is out for the weekend. [He is] getting better and better and better, much better. Hopefully he can have a normal session with us Sunday morning and then should be fine again.

Klopp also revealed that Liverpool will be without Joe Gomez for the trip to Selhurst Park, as he suffered an injury on international duty with England against the Netherlands last Friday night.

After the initial shock, we got the best news we could get. At the moment, it’s serious – and serious to rule him out for the next couple of games. But I think we will see Joe back on the pitch this season.

Gomez is set to be out until the end of April, with the fixture at home to Chelsea looking like the next time he will pull on a Liverpool shirt.

The potential selection of Nathaniel Clyne for the first time this season is on the cards as he has recovered from a back injury that has prevented him from playing for the entirety of this season.

Clyney is back. He has been back for a few weeks already but has come closer and closer. He is a very good option.

Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson both picked up minor injuries when playing for their countries this week but both seem to be available to play this weekend.

On Solanke’s toe injury, Klopp said:

He is fine and will be fine today, I hope.

And regarding Robertson, he said:

It was a dead leg, no problem.

Liverpool will definitely be without the services of Emre Can and Joe Gomez for the trip down to South London, but the possible inclusion of Nathaniel Clyne, for the first time, along with Andy Robertson and Dominic Solanke is promising.
