Last week, we exclusively revealed that Liverpool had made an enquiry about the possibility of signing West Ham full-back Jeremy Ngakia on a free transfer.
The teenager has so far rejected West Ham’s offers to extend his contract, both in terms of agreeing to play out the current season past June and also in terms of a long-term deal.
As reported by the Evening Standard, the Hammers are locked in talks with Ngakia’s agent to try to at least get him to stay until the end of the season, but the deadline to get him to agree to such a deal is Tuesday and despite ongoing talks, the teenager has yet to agree to stay.
If the 19-year-old doesn’t put pen-to-paper on a new contract before that deadline, then he’s certain to become a free agent and as such, Liverpool, or any other parties, will be able to sign him and will only owe West Ham a small compensatory fee.
