Liverpool urged to sign Rashford-like striker

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes Liverpool should sign a striker in the mould of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.

Although the Reds’ first-choice starting lineup under Jurgen Klopp is superb, they have occasionally been accused of lacking depth.

That especially applies in central attacking areas, with Roberto Firmino on another level to anything Liverpool have waiting on the substitutes’ bench.

Divock Origi is always a willing runner when he comes on, but lacks true top class quality, while Daniel Sturridge is not the player he once was.

Reinforcements in attack are required this summer, although youngster Rhian Brewster is a definite option, should he return to full fitness after a long spell out injured.

Speaking to betoclock.com, Heskey believes Liverpool need someone similar to Rashford, with pace to burn and offering something different to Firmino:

Liverpool will want to sign another striker in the summer. Divock Origi gives them another option up front, but they still need another top striker instead of Firmino.

They’ll be looking to sign a player that can offer the option in behind the opposition defence.

However, you don’t really see players who can do that in the Premier League, apart from Marcus Rashford for Manchester United.

It will be interesting to see what Klopp does come the end of the season, as he continues to perfect his squad.

Heskey is correct in his assessment that a new face needs to be brought in, although Brewster is certainly one to watch.
