According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool youngster Taiwo Awoniyi is closing in on a loan move to Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
The report says that he is expected to sign on loan, as Liverpool want him to gain first-team experience in a top league as well as earn more ‘credit’ in his pursuit of a work permit.
Awoniyi joined Liverpool last summer, but spent the entire season on loan at FSV Frankfurt in the German second division, however, he only managed one goal during his time in Germany.
Now it looks like he is set to test himself in Holland, as he looks to impress Jurgen Klopp and show him that he has a future at Anfield.
The 18-year-old is seen as top prospect and was in the provisional Nigeria squad for the Olympics, although he was unable to make the final cut.
The move will be a great chance for Awoniyi to get some minutes under his belt, and hopefully some goals too.
