Dejan Lovren has fired a warning to Cristiano Ronaldo by saying that between him and Virgil van Dijk they will be more than ready for the challenge, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The centre-back was speaking at the start of what could be a very special week for Liverpool, with a sixth Champions League title well within their grasp in Kyiv on Saturday night.
Lovren has played 13 times in Europe for the Reds this season, and said this game is the biggest of his career:
I always dreamed to be in the Champions League and I dreamed one day to lift the trophy. We have the biggest chance in our lives.
Lovren was full of praise for his partner at the back, Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman signed for Liverpool in January and the defence has looked more comfortable with him in the side.
They will be tasked with stopping the competition’s record scorer in Cristiano Ronaldo as they bid to win the trophy, and the Croatian international believes they can do exactly that.
We will stop him together. In some parts of the game it will be one against one but it is a challenge that I will be ready for. I have been working so hard and I am ready for everything.
