Man City bid £30m for Sterling

Manchester City are the first club to show genuine interest in Liverpool’s contract rebel Raheem Sterling.

The Mirror’s John Cross reports that City are putting together a £30 million bid for the 20-year-old, broken into £25 million plus £5 million in add-ons.

It is understood that City made a verbal offer to Liverpool yesterday and are prepared to follow it up with a formal bid.

Whether this bid will be accepted remains to be seen as it falls below Liverpool’s valuation of the player.

Liverpool are still hopeful of holding onto the young winger.

Sterling has informed Liverpool that he no longer wants to stay at the club and has reportedly rejected a £90,000 a week contract.

City’s local rivals Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are amongst other clubs that are monitoring the situation.
