Napoli showing surprise interest in Nathaniel Clyne

Napoli have emerged as surprise contenders to land Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne this summer.

According to Goal, Carlo Ancelotti has identified Clyne as an alternative option to Tottenham Hotspur’s Kieran Trippier, who has been strongly linked with a move to Italy this summer.

The report claims that Napoli have made contact with the Reds over securing the services of Clyne, with Liverpool valuing the former England international at £15m.

Clyne spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Bournemouth, making 15 appearances for the Cherries in all competitions.

Eddie Howe is keen on signing the player on a full-time basis, with fellow Premier League outfit West Ham also tracking the player over a possible move.

The 28-year-old made the move to Merseyside back in 2015 from Southampton, however, the right-back has struggled for game time over the past two years.

With Clyne entering the final year of his Liverpool deal, the Reds could find it difficult to collect all of their £15m valuation of the player, however, if they can pick up a large percentage of that, it would definitely be seen as good business.
