Liverpool are set to battle AC Milan and Lazio for the signature of Ajax winger Anwar El-Ghazi, according to reports.
El-Ghazi, valued at around £15 million by the Dutch giants, netted 11 goals in 27 games last season, and Italian publication Il tempo claim Liverpool are interested in a move.
The Dutchman, who earned his first caps for his country in Euro 2016 qualifiers last Autumn, is known for his blend of power and pace and is able to glide past defenders, but his work rate and discipline have been questioned.
He broke into Ajax’s first team at the beginning of the 2014-15 season and has since made 58 appearances, notching an impressive 20 goals and 10 assists and earning the club’s Talent of the Year award in 2015.
The Reds, though, will have to go head-to-head with old rivals AC Milan, who are currently believed to be at the head of the queue after being offered his services by the player’s high-profile agent Jorge Mendes.
El-Ghazi would provide cover for the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Philippe Coutinho and would represent yet another exciting addition to Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options.
Ajax have exported a number of their stars to the Premier League in recent years, most notably Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen, Daley Blind and, of course, Luis Suarez.
