Reds look to offload eight players

Liverpool striker Fabio Borini headlines an eight-man summer clearout masterminded by Brendan Rodgers in a desperate attempt to shake up his squad ahead of the new season.

The Mirror claim that the Italian Borini, as well as compatriot Mario Balotelli, defenders Sebastian Coates, Jose Enrique and on-loan Javier Manquillo are all expected to leave the club this summer. Attacking midfielder Luis Alberto is also expected to leave Anfield if an acceptable offer comes in for the player.

Borini, valued at £10m by Liverpool, is being looked at Serie A sides Fiorentina and Lazio in a return to his home-land where he enjoyed his most success wih AS Roma before a £10.5m return to English football in 2012.

Sunderland, who took the 24-year-old on loan the very next summer, are also interested in bringing the Italian back to the Stadium of Light, where he scored 10 goals in 40 games in all competitions.

As for Balotelli, it’s unlikely the club will recoup much of their £16m investment in the former Manchester City striker from the previous summer, seen as a replacement for Luis Suarez, which means the 24-year-old will be shipped out on loan.

Coates is being eyed up by Sunderland on a permanent basis after an impressive season-long loan last season in the North East, with a £5m deal being discussed.

As for Enrique and Manquillo, neither are seen to have a long-term future at the club, and will be let go of if replacements are found.
