Controversial defender Ruben Semedo refuses to rule out Liverpool move

Olympiakos defender Ruben Semedo has refused to rule out a potential move Liverpool, declaring “let’s see what happens”.

The 26-year-old was linked with the Reds last month as Jurgen Klopp continues to look at potential centre-back reinforcements. Semedo is a controversial figure, though, after being charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and robbery a couple of years ago.

Speaking to O Jogo [via Sport Witness], the Portugal international discussed the rumours tipping him to join Liverpool, remaining coy on the matter as he said: “Oh, only difficult questions. I heard that and it’s always good to see my name linked to big clubs. Let’s see what happens in the future.”

A centre-back addition seems increasingly important all the time for the Reds, especially with Joel Matip picking up a back injury against Fulham. That being said, Semedo has too much off-field baggage to be a viable option, given his aforementioned misdemeanours.

Klopp has created an incredible team spirit within his squad, with every player hugely professional and seemingly getting along with all of their teammates.

The last thing Liverpool need is a disruptive influence coming in and upsetting the harmony – something Semedo could possibly do.
