Shaqiri and Wilson could leave Liverpool in January

Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson could follow Marko Grujic out of the Liverpool exit door, according to the Daily Star.

It is claimed that the pair could leave on loan in the January transfer window, with Jurgen Klopp initially keen on selling both permanently in the summer, along with Grujic.

The Serb sealed a loan move to Porto on Tuesday evening, but Shaqiri and Wilson look to be remaining at Liverpool for the time being.

I would personally keep hold of Shaqiri for the whole season, seeing him as someone who can bring real quality from the substitutes’ bench, allowing the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane a rest from time to time.

Injuries have plagued the Swiss throughout his time at Anfield, but he has proven pedigree at the top level and can be a useful squad player, as highlighted by his match-winning double against Man United in 2018/19.

Wilson, on the other hand, looked short of the required standard in the Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal, receiving a five-out-of-10 rating from This Is Anfield.

A move elsewhere would benefit him more, allowing him to start regularly, gain confidence and mature as a footballer.

Wilson is a good Premier League player, scoring seven league goals for Bournemouth last season, but Liverpool are a step up in level and there are too many superior individuals ahead of him in the pecking order.
