Liverpool’s Champions League heroics have seen six of their players named in UEFA’s squad of the season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side instantly became club legends on Saturday night, after beating Tottenham 2-0 in the final in Madrid.
It has been a stunning campaign by the Reds, who also accumulated a club record 97 points in the Premier League, just missing out to Man City in the title race.
Klopp has built a squad full of superb players, some of whom are unquestionably world class, and their brilliance has been noted.
Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane have all been picked in the 20-man Champions League squad of the season.
Alisson has shown exactly why he is one of the world’s best goalkeepers, making key saves against Spurs and a vital one in the dying seconds against Napoli in the group stage.
Full-back pairing Alexander-Arnold and Robertson are now among the best in Europe in their position, while Van Dijk is the finest centre-back on the planet.
Wijnaldum has been an understated hero in many ways, shining in the middle of the park, while Mane has been Liverpool’s most consistent attacking player.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are both included in the squad, too, as is former Reds youngster Raheem Sterling.
