Skrtel denies contract rumours

Martin Skrtel has claimed that reports of him agreeing a new deal with Liverpool are false.

It was reported yesterday that Skrtel had accepted the news terms on his contract but the defender states that fans and media have all been misled by a fake Facebook profile.

The Slovakian international had previously spoken out about his discontent with his contract offer and said that it was the type of contract offered to players nearing the end of their careers or players with health problems.

Speaking about the latest developments, Skrtel said:

“I have my own profile on Facebook. I use it for communication with my fans and I operate it through the agency Stars and Friends.

“I strongly disavow the profile on which the false information was published. I have not created the profile and I do not have a clue who the administrator is.”

Skrtel’s agent Karol Csonto also stated yesterday that his client was attracting interest from Italian club Inter Milan and that he was considering his options.

Skrtel joined Liverpool from Zenit St. Petersburg in 2008 and established himself as a key member of the team, making 293 appearances for the Reds.
