Injury-plagued Daniel Sturridge could make his Liverpool return against none other than Manchester United, according to David Maddock of the Mirror.
The striker is believed to be recovering well from a hip operation that resulted in an extremely disappointing season for the England man.
The 25-year-old had originally been told he could face a long wait until November to return to action, however after successful rehabilitation, he has set his sights on September 12 at Old Trafford.
He will now fly home to the UK this weekend to continue the final stages of his recovery before joining his team mates at the end of the month to start full training.
The forward last featured for Brendan Rodgers’ side back in April during the FA Cup quarter-final replay victory over Blackburn Rovers.
A series of injuries which have included hip, calf and thigh issues left Sturridge with just 18 league appearances to his name last term.
