Liverpool U21 Spanish star Suso has today passed a medical to join AC Milan. The attacking midfielder declared “I am very happy to be coming to Milan”, but is still unsure of when he’ll get his first opportunity.
The Academy product will be out of contract come the summer and after failing to establish himself in Brendan Rodgers’ first team squad, Sky Sports News have today announced he has already agreed to a four-year contract with Milan once his current contract runs out. James Pearce (Liverpool Echo) has also corroborated this information.
There are reports that Milan would like Suso to join them this month and are trying to convince Liverpool to release the player early, although Milan would have to compensate Liverpool with a nominal fee for this to happen.
Here’s what Suso had to say on the matter to Sky Sport Italia when he arrived in Milan earlier today:
“I haven’t spoken to the coach Inzaghi yet. I came here for the medical and hope it all went well”.
“Do I have a message for the Milan Fans? I am not here for long, then we will see when I am able to play”
The Spanish star’s exit, whether it be this month or in the summer, is likely to divided reaction from the Liverpool fans with many believing that the youngster has not been given enough opportunities. It’s thought Suso was offered a contract renewal last summer but refused to accept it because of lack of chances.
There was real big expectations for Suso when he broke in to the first team squad along with fellow academy starlet Raheem Sterling. Those expectation rose further after a successful loan spell at Spanish side Almeria last season.
But for whatever reason, Suso has failed to impress the Liverpool manager and as a result the youngster has decided to exercise his right negotiate with clubs about a summer move.
