Southampton are attempting to sign Takumi Minamino on loan from Liverpool, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein on Twitter.
The Japanese has struggled for playing time this season and Saints are eyeing him up on a temporary basis.
Talks are believed to be ‘advanced’, but nothing has been agreed yet, with time running out ahead of the 11pm deadline on Monday.

It would be a shame to see Minamino leave between now and the end of the season, but it could make sense.
The 26-year-old has only managed two Premier League starts all season, with his only goal in the competition coming away to Crystal Palace, and no assists registered in nine appearances.
A move to Southampton could give Minamino more playing time, allowing him to continue to develop in England, having still not properly settled.
It does raise question marks about his long-term Liverpool future, however, considering he has essentially been deemed surplus requirements, despite Diogo Jota being out injured and Divock Origi continuing to not set the world alight.
