United prepare £25m Sterling bid

Reports of a Manchester United bid coming in for Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling are resurfacing.

According to the Daily Mirror, an initial approach from the Manchester club was rejected by Liverpool but it now seems like the Red Devils would like to test the waters soon with an opening bid of £25 million.

United manager Louis van Gaal has identified Sterling as one of the most promising talents in the league and feels that the young Englishman will be interested in the move.

However, the opening bid being mooted is well below Liverpool’s valuation of the 20-year-old.

Rejecting United’s bid is a distinct possibility, but an offer from Manchester City then becomes inevitable which could then spark a bidding war between the two clubs.

City’s interest in Sterling has been widely reported since he informed the club about is refusal to sign an extension.

According to the Evening Standard, Sterling has his heart set on a move back to London.
