Liverpool have had to deal with crippling injury blows time and time again this season.
Having lost Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip for the season at various stages, the Reds were more reliant than ever on captain Jordan Henderson.
Therefore, when the despondent skipper left the Merseyside derby defeat at Anfield early on, Jurgen Klopp must’ve been wondering when fortunes would alter.
Klopp confirmed last week that the 30-year-old will not play again this season, with two crucial games of the campaign still to play.
Henderson will still harbour hopes of making the cut for England as Gareth Southgate prepares to name the squad for Euro 2020 next week.
On Tuesday the midfielder uploaded a video to Instagram showing him ‘stepping it up’ as the squad announcement looms large.

Henderson can be seen firing passes into small-sided goals whilst running through a drill in the Merseyside sunshine at Liverpool’s state of the art AXA Training Centre in Kirkby.
Prior to the season-ending groin injury, the Sunderland-born tireless star had played 28 times in all competitions this term.

It’s difficult to assess just who has been the biggest loss this season at Anfield.
But, one thing is for sure is that Henderson is a leading figure in the conversation.
Not only has Klopp’s side miss their captain and leader in the heart of the midfield, but also how the 58-cap ace dictates the pace of play and gets the Reds on the front foot more often than not.
From a Liverpool perspective, many Kopites would be more than happy to see Henderson omitted from the England squad altogether in order to continue rehabilitation over the summer and ensure fitness for the start of 2021/22.
