“We’re not going anywhere,” claims Robertson

Andy Robertson has given a bullish response to Liverpool missing out on Premier League glory, claiming “we’re not going anywhere.”

The Reds were pipped to the title by Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, following the champions’ 4-1 win away to Brighton.

Jurgen Klopp’s side did all they could, beating Wolves 2-0 and finishing the season on 97 points, but they ended up being beaten by a superb team.

While past title challenges have been followed by disappointing seasons, most notably after the 2001/02, 2008/09, 2013/14 campaigns, it feels as though this is just the beginning for Liverpool.

That is certainly the view of Robertson, who told Liverpoolfc.com that the Reds will continue to fight with City in the coming years:

It’s one of them, 97 points – if anyone offered us that at the start of the season I think everyone would’ve took it.

We’ve come up against an incredible team and for us to get that close, it just shows you how far we’ve come. We’ve come a long way since last season and closed the gap to City.

The good thing is that City know we’re here now and we’re not going anywhere. This squad will stay together and we need to put everything into next season.

We’ve not done much wrong, but we’ll learn from it. We’ve still got a massive game coming up and then we can focus on next season.

We’ve come up against an incredible team, but this team isn’t bad as well.

It has been a magnificent effort by Liverpool this season and it would feel unjust if they didn’t end 2018/19 with a trophy.
