‘Will try’ – Bayern Munich chief makes huge Florian Wirtz transfer claim

A lot has been said about Florian Wirtz this season as he continues to find his feet at Liverpool.

The German international started the season in underwhelming fashion but has fared much better since the international break.

Wirtz has been one of Liverpool’s best players over the past three games, but that hasn’t made all the criticism disappear overnight.

And now, Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness claims the Bavarian giants won’t try to sign him despite his struggles at Anfield.

Bayern won’t try to sign Florian Wirtz from Liverpool

Hoeness was asked if he is happy Bayern missed out on the German as they were also in the race to sign him last summer.

And to be fair to him, he provided a response that will give Wirtz a great deal of encouragement, although the Anfield faithful won’t like it too much.

“No. Because Florian would play much better for us than he does at Liverpool,” said Hoeness via Welt Am Sonntag.

“I watch a lot of his games. They haven’t integrated him properly at all. At Leverkusen, he got every ball; at Liverpool, he’s just one among many.”

On whether Bayern will try to sign him again: “No. He has a long-term contract at Liverpool. They will try to integrate him better there.”

That is that, then. And even if Bayern – or any other team across Europe – tries to sign Wirtz, Liverpool’s answer will be a firm no.
