Liverpool will host Chelsea in the blockbuster clash of the Carabao Cup third round.
The Reds automatically enter in at this stage of the competition following their finish in the Premier League last season but will be matched with a fellow top six side in this early stage.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly view this as an opportunity for some of his fringe players to gain valuable first-team minutes, but the German will certainly be eyeing some silverware to show for his efforts this season.
The clash between Liverpool and Chelsea is, without doubt, the headline clash of the third round, ensuring that at least one big English club will bow out at their first hurdle this year.
A date for the fixture has not yet been confirmed, but the clash will be played during the week beginning on Monday 24 September.
