Ings reflects on his time at Liverpool

Southampton star Danny Ings has been reflecting on his time at Liverpool.

The striker, who has one England cap to his name, joined Southampton on a loan deal with an obligation to buy on the final day of the summer transfer window.

This means that as of July 2019, Ings will be officially contracted to the Saints, seeing his tenure at Anfield come to an end.

However, Ings has once again been looking back on his time on Merseyside and paid tribute to the club and its fans. Speaking to the Southern Daily Echo after Southampton’s win at Crystal Palace, the 26-year-old hailed the Reds.

I enjoyed my time at Liverpool. I did. I travelled with the team to the Champions League final. I played in the Champions League. It was great experience for me, but coming here to play most weeks is enjoyable in itself so I’m happy.

I could have left two three or windows before but I stuck at it, gave myself the best chance at Liverpool. I love the club, I love the fans. It’s just time for me to go and enjoy myself now.

Ings saw his career at Anfield plagued by long-term injury struggles involving both knees but appears to be finding his feet once again at his boyhood club Southampton.

The forward has started three games and made one substitute appearance, netting two Premier League goals in the process this season.

I still have ambition to score goals in the Premier League and I’m just going to go for it now. I don’t have a target. I don’t want to limit myself on what I can achieve.
