Liverpool’s 2018/19 Champions League campaign is less than a week away from beginning, and the visit of Paris Saint-Germain to Anfield is a challenging way to kick off proceedings.

The Reds are looking to go one better than their performance last year, where they were defeated 3-1 by Real Madrid in the final.

Whilst PSG was never going to an easy task, the French champions will be without several key players, according to This is Anfield.

Gianluigi Buffon is suspended in European competition after his dramatic red card against Real Madrid last season, received for his protestations after a late penalty decision in favour of Los Blancos.

Dani Alves is also certain to miss the match through injury, and will be absent for the entire group stage as he recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered during the World Cup.

With their first choice right back down, the first choice left back is also likely to be ruled out through injury. Layvin Kurzawa is yet to appear for PSG this season, and the club recently revealed the Frenchman had undergone surgery for a back injury.

Experienced midfielder Lassana Diarra may also be left on the sidelines, as the 33-year-old tries to return from a minor knee injury.

However, Liverpool will still have to face off against superstars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe – so don’t think this match is won yet.
