Martin Keown believes Mohamed Salah is still dealing with the after-effects of his injury in the Champions League final.

A dislocated shoulder ended Salah’s match in the first-half, after a tangle with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos resulted in the Egyptian falling awkwardly.

A stuttering start to the Premier League season has followed, and some have been left wondering whether the PFA Player of the Year was a ‘one season wonder’.

BBC pundit Keown told the Daily Mail (quoted in the Metro):

Has Salah been the same since his shoulder was dislocated by Sergio Ramos?

Ever since he has seemed to be playing within himself. He lost possession 21 times against Paris Saint-Germain and it was his mistake that led to their equaliser.

He looks particularly reluctant to use his physicality to protect the ball. Daniel Sturridge was far more effective in that regard, losing possession just seven times.

Starting all five of Liverpool’s Premier League games thus far, the winger has just the one goal to show for his efforts, with several good chances missed along the way.

Keown recognised the Reds’ capacity to rally around their star-man, however:

Liverpool’s main man may not be firing on all cylinders but his team-mates seem to have raised their game by an extra 10 per cent to compensate.

The fact they have still won their first six games of the season will strike fear into their rivals.

Will Salah recapture his form from last season?
