Klopp speaks out on Götze speculation
Mario Götze is a man out of sorts. The midfielder has played just twice for Borussia Dortmund this season, and is yet to grace the turf in the Bundesliga.
Down the pecking order at Westfalenstadion, Götze has been linked with a move away from Germany.
And, predictably, Liverpool and former manager Jürgen Klopp is said to be one of the 26-year-old’s favoured destinations.
However, the Reds boss wasn’t particularly forthcoming when asked about his side’s interest in the 2014 World Cup winner.
Neil Jones of Goal quoted Klopp as saying:
Absolutely nothing I would want to talk about in a press conference in England before a game against Chelsea! If I have to say something to Mario then I would call him!
Liverpool spurned the chance to sign Nabil Fekir during the summer, after concerns about the Frenchman’s knee became apparent after a medical examination. Götze may prove to be a cheap alternative in the attacking midfield department, where Liverpool could use another body in the absence of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
