Alexander-Arnold discusses his aims to become Liverpool captain

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been discussing his aspiration to become Liverpool’s first-team captain in the future.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s Champions League group stage fixture against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night, the youngster fielded questions about his desire to one day become the club’s captain.

Alexander-Arnold, who progressed through the academy ranks at Liverpool, is only 20-years-old but has a clear ambition to one day wear the captain’s armband of his boyhood club.

As quoted by the Independent, the England international admitted that the captaincy is a long-term target of his but also stressed the importance of remaining patient.

It’s something I’ve always dreamed of. There’s a lot of hard work to go into it.

It’s about being patient and working hard, hopefully, one day that opportunity might come.

Jordan Henderson is Liverpool’s current club captain and he is a player who Jurgen Klopp evidently trusts, indicating that no immediate changing of the role will be seen at Anfield.

However, it seems Alexander-Arnold has his sights set firmly on leading Liverpool out into matches in the future, as he again reaffirms his commitment to the cause on Merseyside.
