Everton’s Vlasic backs Liverpool to win the Champions League
Liverpool have been backed to win the Champions League this season by an unlikely source
CSKA Moscow’s Nikola Vlasic, who is on loan from Everton, believes that the Reds are among the favourites to go all the way because of the ‘great football’ they play.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited on Daily Mail, Vlasic discussed who he believes are the contenders for this season’s competition.
I would say Chelsea, but they’re not in it! Champions League? I’d say Liverpool, last year’s final and now stronger, then (Manchester) City, Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid. In the Premier League, only the top five or six teams, managed by foreigners like Klopp or Guardiola, play great football.
Vlasic no longer appears to be in Everton’s plans after he was shipped out on loan to Russia and his latest comments may not go down too well with the club’s supporters.
The winger has fallen out of favour at Goodison Park and despite being highly thought of, looks set to pursue a future elsewhere.
Liverpool are in action on Wednesday night against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
A win against Red Star could see the Reds move up to top spot in Group C, with Napoli facing Paris Saint-Germain this week.
